Generalizable Robot Intelligence and Learning Lab

Join Us!

Thank you for your interest in the Generalizable Robot Intelligence and Learning Lab (GRILL)! We are actively looking for students, postdocs, and visiting researchers with a strong background in robotics, machine learning, computer vision, and other related areas.

Please see the detailed instructions and links below:

🗺️ Prospective Postdoctoral Researchers

Please complete this form and send an email to (kuanfang [at] cornell [dot] edu).

🗺️ Prospective Prospective PhD Students

We will continuously admit new PhD students in the upcoming application cycles. Please apply to the CS PhD Program and/or the Robotics PhD Program (you can apply to both simultaneously). Please note that you will need to mention Prof. Kuan Fang in both the application system and your statement of purpose if you are interested in joining our lab. Every application submitted by the deadline will receive thorough consideration by the admissions committee.

🧸 Cornell PhD Students

If you’re an incoming or current Cornell PhD/MS student interested in working together, send an email to (kuanfang [at] cornell [dot] edu).

🧸 Cornell Undergrad/MS Students

We welcome undergraduate/MS researchers at all class levels. While it is not a requirement, a background in related areas (e.g., AI, robotics, machine learning, computer vision) and excellent grades are preferred. If you are interested, please complete this form (which requires a Cornell login) and then send an email to (kuanfang [at] cornell [dot] edu) with your resume and (unofficial) transcript. We will interview new undergraduate/MS students typically at the beginning of the semester and periodically during the rest of the year.

🗺️ Visiting Researcher

If you are not a current Cornell student and are interested in a short-term visit, please fill out this form and email (kuanfang [at] cornell [dot] edu). We welcome people all across the world to join us and collaborate. But please note that international students and scholars usually need proper visa types, such as J-1 and F-1, to do research in the US. The Cornell Office of Global Learning may provide visa supports and further information for certain cases.

🗺️ High School Students

Unfortunately, we don’t directly work with high school students. Please refer to the outreach opportunities offered by Cornell CS for further information.
